Democracy in Pakistan: Musharraf is history now

Tags: , , ,

Finally the day has come that the democratic forces have impeached military dictator of Pakistan, Musharraf. He overtook Pakistan about nine years back as a CEO, Chief executive officer, after raiding the Pakistan Television and Parliament of Pakistan. He was in no way a legitimate President of Pakistan. The impeachment of Musharraf is paradoxical and raises some question in the mind of common Pakistani people.

Why it took so long, more than hundred days, to overthrow the rule of Musharraf?

According to Some, Pakistan Peoples Party wanted to establish normal working relations with president Pervaiz Musharraf. But over the past three months they soon realized that heir this decision was not the representation of people’s opinion. Being a democratic party the have to take legal action against the unlawful presidency of Musharraf.

Why Pakistan People Party’s Asif Zardari was reluctant to impeach Musharraf via a constitutional resolution?

The short answer to this question is national reconciliation order. NRO was issued by Musarraf and it is the umbrella which protects the rights of main players of Pakistani politics including Asif Zardari. If PPP impeached him via resolution, he would not be the legitimate president of Pakistan. In this way all his orders including NRO would be dismissed too.  So PPP took another step and asked him to resign himself.

Will he be prosecuted or his resignation was a result of a DEAL?

I still can’t say anything about it. Most probably he’ll not be prosecuted for the same reasons.

Why America did not give Musharraf political refuge?

Many terrorist from all over the world are after him. America should not support him over the security of their homeland.

Why Pakistan Muslim League (Q) was a loser?

Tags: , , , ,

Pakistan Elections 2008 proved to be a political change in the region. The people of Pakistan badly rejected the pro Musharaf political party, Pakistan Muslim League (Q). According to masses in Pakistan, the defeat of PML- Q was due to a number of causes like:

  1. Acceptance of Democracy under military rule
  2. Promotion of President Musharraf’s Vision
  3. Wrong Approach towards War on terror
  4. Blochistan, Sawat Crisis
  5. Pakistan’s worst energy crisis
  6. Inflation
  7. Pakistan’s Judicial Activism
  8. Lal Masjid Issue - mainly how wrongly they approached towards the solution of that internal issue
  9. Food and Wheat Crisis
  10. Rise of religious exremism and sucide attacks

Recently I cam across following photographs by a Pakistani cartoonist taimoor.
